The Harrow Art Society was founded in 1934, and is the longest running art society in the area. Our first exhibition was held in December 1935! Membership is open to all artists and creative people, from amateurs to professionals, of all abilities and ages. Our programme of events, demonstrations, workshops, film shows, talks and socials are held on Saturday afternoons, usually from 2pm-5pm at: Harrow Arts Centre-171, Uxbridge Road, Hatch End, Pinner, Middx. HA5 4AE The events run from January to July and from October to December.
Membership
Annual membership is currently £50 (£15 for under eighteens), and members can attend demonstrations and practical sessions without additional charge (small charge for refreshments). Members can invite guests – the charge is £3 for demonstrations and £5 for workshops. Members can exhibit their work at our annual exhibitions, the Harrow Art Society Facebook (Meta) members page and our Instagram page.
We run regular workshops throughout the year that are designed to help you develop your artistic skills, including still-life set ups, life drawing, landscape painting, lectures, and film screenings.
Workshops are tutor-led. Members are encouraged to try their hand at the subject, as against just watching a tutorial, whether live or on zoom. It's a perfect way to learn a new technique-and to be able to ask questions!
Exhibitions
Members can exhibit their work at our annual exhibition, and any satellite exhibitions we may hold throughout the year in different venues.

Past Shows
Each year a poster is designed for the exhibition, chosen from one of the members’ paintings, by the Committee members. (It could be yours!)
Socials
Every year Harrow Art Society holds a cream tea for all the members, in various different venues, and in July 2025 we had a magnificent tea, and a grand tour of the grounds, at the Grim's Dyke Hotel in Old Redding, Harrow Weald. It was so good that we're going to have it there again in 2026!
Meeting like-minded people stops you feeling isolated with your art; finding other people out there who share your aesthetic tastes! It’s not all about the footie or TV!
Benefits of Membership
There are so many benefits to becoming a member of the Harrow Art Society. Here are just three of them!
DEVELOP SKILLS
We run regular workshops throughout the year that are designed to help you develop your artistic skills, including still-life set ups, life drawing, landscape painting, lectures, and film screenings.
At the Harrow Art Society we have so many superb artists for you to meet and learn from, with ‘hundreds’ of years experience between them in the art of drawing, painting, and sculpture.
It’s not always about the art! We host numerous meetings throughout the year, exhibitions, workshops, socials and ‘show-ups’ (critiques of members’ art) - in a nice way, of course!
